Bio
One language is never enough.
Une seule langue n'est jamais suffisante.
一つの言語は決して十分ではない.
Один язьıк-недостаточно.
一种语言永远不够.
Una lengua nunca es suficiente.

Name: Sarajane
Age: 21
Current Location: Buffalo, NY
Sign: Virgo (or Ox if you're Chinese!)
Goal: To become a polyglot

pŏl'ē-glŏt' - A person having a speaking, reading, or writing knowledge of several languages

Languages I’ve Studied Formally:

☺ English - Native speaker

☻ French - High Intermediate - after 11 years of formal training and 5 years of forgetting (almost) everything.

☺ Japanese - Intermediate - 1.5 full academic years of classes within 4 years. I stopped after Freshman year at university and am now picking it back up. I'm currently in my fourth semester.

☻ Russian - Intermediate - I am currently in my fourth semester of Russian, which I began about two years ago. And I'm finally grasping cases!

☺ Korean - Beginner - I took two semesters of it during my Junior year. Not much has stuck, though. I'm remembering more and more these days!

☻ Mandarin - Intermediate - I spent about 9 months in formal training, including two in Beijing. Right now, I'm taking a break from classes, but I hope to be taking another class next fall.

Languages I’m Now Actively Studying :

☻ French - High Intermediate
☺ Japanese - Intermediate
☻ Russian - Intermediate
☺ Mandarin Chinese - Intermediate
☻ Spanish - Beginner

Languages I’d Like to Learn (aside from those listed above):

☺ Ancient Greek
☻ Arabic
☺ German
☻ Finnish
☺ Italian
☻ Latin
☺ Mohawk
☻ Swedish

Those are a lot. But don't worry. I won't off myself if I can't do them all!

How will I know when I've learned a language? I think that learning a language is a lifelong process. I can get by in a bunch of countries with the knowledge that I have now, but I don't think that I will ever be good enough to consider myself totally fluent. If I did, I wouldn't work as hard.
